Canadian Pardons Deadline

Canadian Pardons Deadline – Is it Real?

I’ve been fielding a lot of complaints lately from people who have been given bogus information concerning a fictitious Canadian pardon deadline . The sales routine goes something like this:

Sign up now and we can guarantee your pardon will not be affect by the deadline. If you don’t, be warned and afraid because time is running out. The deadline to get a pardon is fast approaching so you’d better get started. I just need your credit card number.

Pardons Canada Deadline – What do I need to know?

You need to know that the pardons Canada deadline is not real. It is simply not true so allow me to put these insincere sales tactics to rest. The following points should clear up any misunderstanding about a supposed deadline to get a pardon.

  1. First and foremost: a private company cannot grandfather you into the pardons Canada program.
  2. There is no need to be grandfathered anyway. The changes proposed by the Conservative government have already taken effect.
  3. Pardons are not being eliminated. What happened was the government changed the name of the application from a pardons to a record suspension.
  4. A pardon and a record suspension are exactly the same thing.

Anyone giving you information that contradicts the above is either uninformed or providing you with misleading information just to make a sale.

Please be careful.  There are a lot of people selling pardon services these days and very few who know anything about pardons, let alone enough to call themselves experts.

If you think you’ve been given misleading information and want to clear things up just give me a call. I promise I know what I’m talking about. And if you ask me something I’m not qualified to answer I’m not just going to tell you what you want to hear.

pardons canada

Canada Pardons are not being eliminated. Advertisements like this one implying such are fraudulent and misleading.

The above advertisement was found on kijiji and was served by a company called Dominion Pardons Canada. It is most likely one of the many that operate under several different company names to avoid centralizing their complaints, which end up becoming very hard to manage when you are fraudulently making sales..

The best thing to do is to educate yourself about Pardons in Canada and how you can avoid choosing the wrong service. If you want to talk give me a call. I have been doing pardons in Canada for over ten years and I’m always happy to chat.

National Pardon Center would be the company you are looking for which is good news since you happen to have found our website already. Doing it on your own is pretty tricky but not impossible.

Kind regards,

Michael

I was to the commissionaire’s office in Barrie, because I’m looking for a job now and feared my ipmaired driving record from 2009 would come up in a check. The woman there told me it would cost a mnimum of 1600$ to do. My friend, an OPP detective seemed to think it was free. And I stupidly gave an initial 350$ to a pardon’s service, which I quickly realized was bogus and they refunded my money. So much false information! Why isn’t there an actual place for us to find out and why do we hava to pay anything? I’ve already paid for my crime and lost so much. How do I get a record suspension, then? Thanks

I did my own pardon. Although it took some time and money, it was worth not paying the fee to these companies as I was quite capable of doing this myself. They need your information anyways. It’s not complicated. Just get the form guide and follow the prompts.

I agree completely. By all means if you have the time and the initiative there is nothing wrong with doing a pardon on your own. Of course the same can be said about doing your taxes, painting your house, etc. There are several articles on this blog addressing exactly that issue.

Noticed this ad on facebook
http://www.pardon-center-canada.ca/index.php and states there is a deadline in about a week. I have a pardon, so not worried whereas others might be.

Ji Andrea,

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I have tried to complain to Facebook about this but they don’t seem to concerned.

Kind regards,
Michael

So, Let me get this straight, you say other services on the Internet are clouding the issue by saying there’s a time limit to get your pardon application in on time, and that they charge to do this service, but National Pardon Centre also charges for the service, and advertises the deadline on facebook regardless of its claims that there is no deadline.

So because you’re telling the truth about the deadline on this website is a better reason to fork over the same amount of money as the other pardon services website?

why are you better at it than them?

Hi Matt,

The advertisement you saw on Facebook is not ours and it’s the reason I have blog posts like this one. As for your other questions I think you will have to decide for yourself but there is no company that will handle your pardon free of charge. Even doing it on your own will result in considerable costs.

Kind regards,

Michael

So when did the new laws begin? And at what date prior to application are you “grandfathered in” or if at all, and/or accepted under old laws? Thanks…

Hi W.

The laws changed in February 2012 and unless your application was already submitted before that happened you are subject to the new rules.

Any other questions please let me know.

Hi Jesse,

It’s the right time to get started. Don’t wait until you are eligibly already. Get started about 1 year in advance.

Kind regards,

Hi.
I have a DUI from March 1988, but did nothing about a pardon or a waver. How long will it take to get one or both of these and the cost factor. I would like to travel to the US and other parts of the planet, will a waver or a pardon really do any good for a DUI conviction from 26 years ago?

Kind regards
Mark

HI Mark,

A pardon for a chanrge that simple should be anywhere from 6-12 months. Total cost is about $1400 ($695 to us and $631 to Canadian government + a couple of small fees to your local police). The US does not seem to care about a single dui but it’s still best to get the pardon done to be sure.
Give us a call if you would like to get a file going or simple apply online.

Best regards,

Michael

Hey I was wondering if there is any way I can get a pardon earlier then 5-10 years for anything higher than a summary offences

Michael Ashby / December 2, 2014

Hi Brian,

There is no way around the waiting periods unfortunately. You have to wait 10 years if it is an indictable offence.

Kind regards,

Michael
